Frequently Asked Questions About Garages
Our Pequea dealers are located in PA, MD, NJ, DE, VA, NY, MA, VT, and NC.
Modular Garages are often the cheapest garage option because they can be built in the factory and delivered to your site fully built. This significantly reduces labor costs and minimizes waste! Plus, it makes construction easy for you, as on-site construction becomes a very minimal part of the garage process!
The unique Gambrel design comes from European and Dutch building styles. The Gambrel garage is able to maximize its 2nd story floor space. This two-sided, dual-slope design creates more headroom and interior space than traditional roofs. This makes gambrel-style roofs a popular choice for attics and storage areas.
The A-Frame Garages are the most customizable option in our garage lineup. You have complete control over overhead doors, layout, storage space, and much more. One of the standout features of the A-Frame Garages is their ability to be fully personalized with options for color schemes, trim styles, and storage configurations to match your existing home and property.
Yes. In most cases, you will need a permit to build a modular garage. As garages are larger structures, they will need to be approved by your local town, city, county, or state. You should also ensure that the location where you plan to place your garage follows all setbacks and other requirements set in place by your area’s planning or building department.
As with most structures, a foundation is an essential component. This is true for garages, too! Most prefab garages will require a concrete foundation due to their size and weight, but some modular garages can be placed on a stone base. Contact your builder or dealer to confirm you are preparing the correct foundation for your garage!
Planning for and choosing the correct size garage is an important part of the garage-planning process! No one wants to purchase a new garage and discover it isn’t large enough for their needs! While planning for your garage, be sure to consider how many vehicles you plan to store in the garage (we recommend 12-14 feet for the average car), how much room you want or need for hobbies or studio space, and if you’re looking to extend your storage space like, for example, with an attic.
After you have a complete understanding of how much space you want, you’ll also want to consider which prefab garage design will work best for your space and your needs. All of our designs are customizable, but even if you’re looking for a custom garage, it’s a good idea to start with a basic idea and build from there! The A-Frame garage is perfect for maximizing storage space or adding an attic. The Modular garage is an affordable option that can be quickly assembled, often without the need for a concrete base. Finally, the Gambrel garage is ideal for maximizing attic space while making the most of a smaller garage footprint.
