Founded by Abner King and his oldest son Ivan King in 1978, Pequea was started primarily to manufacture sheds, but in 1987 gazebos were added to the lineup of structures that they produced.  In 2006 Abner's sons Steven and Calvin stepped into ownership along with Ivan.  With the many years of experience while growing up around the shop, this change only strengthened the company’s management and quality of products.

Pequea has come a long way in terms of growth and development, while at the same time staying true to the core values that make it a successful company.

As a result of a horrific fire in the gazebo plant in 2006, Pequea was forced to rebuild its entire gazebo manufacturing facility.  The bigger facility accommodated a welcome change in terms of shop space and construction area.  This expansion brought on exploration into other types of outdoor structures, and late in 2008 Pergolas were added to the Pequea arsenal.
